Seminar Overview
Objectives
The G.T.T. Course provides physicians, acupuncturists, physiotherapists, naturopaths, chiropractors, dentists and osteopaths with tools to confidently treat myofascial pain syndromes and dysfunction within their practices. The student will be able to identify chronic pain of musculoskeletal origin, shortened muscle syndromes with active trigger points and other entrapment syndromes. GTT is a dry needling technique used with high frequency electrical stimulation which enables the practitioner to provide a more permanent and dramatic clinical response in treating numerous musculoskeletal conditions and disorders.
Competency
Participants will be capable of using this technique in the effective treatment and management of acute and chronic myofascial pain release and dysfunction within their scope of practice.
Program Overview
A two day course and workshop which includes a day of practical case studies. GTT is a comprehensive system of diagnosis and treatment that can offer a potent addition to a medical acupuncture practice. Its usefulness will include a refinement of treatment skills, clinical efficiency and also enhance treatment options in the management of chronic myofascial pain syndromes.
Course Format
- In class case-based instruction.
- Precise hands-on needle insertion skills and needle techniques taught under close supervision
- Small group workshops. Students will practice the G.T.T. procedure on each other working in pairs using all disposable needles.
- Practical training with live cases and treatment of all quadrants of the body.
Requirements
- CAFCI certification or equivalent.
- Participants are responsible for their own malpractice coverage.
- Students will sign an agreement to be needled by fellow students under the supervision of an instructor.
- If you are pregnant or cannot be needled please bring a friend to the course to be needled. They will need to pay a small fee to cover the cost of additional meals and breaks. They will also be required to sign an agreement for needling.
- Prior IMS training is an asset but is not required.
- Students are responsible for their own malpractice insurance.
Costs
The cost per seminar is $750 and covers the costs of the seminar, breaks, and the G.T.T. manual and CD-ROM.
